SWAPO Party Government has delivered - Ngurare

By Levi Upula
Namibians from all over the country converged on the nation's capital on the 21st March 2014 to listen to President Hifikepunye Pohamba recount the importance of commemorating Namibia's freedom and independence. Since then many towns and constituencies in the country have been celebrating their in dependence day. The community of Karibib in the Erongo Region commemorated its 24th Independence Anniversary on 26 April 2014.

Addressing a belated 24th Independence Anniversary organized by the Karibib Town Council, Cde Elijah Ngurare, Secretary of SWAPO Party Youth League, lauded the achievements of government during the past 24 years of independence. On the same occasion he also congratulated the ANC led government in South Africa for their 20th Anniversary of Freedom Day on 27 April 2014.

Dr Ngurare urged the residents of Karibib to support their "elected leaders in order for the focus to be on delivering services to the people and less on arguments about personalities. He applauded the Constituency Councillor Cde Usiel Xoagub whose constituency had set aside annual budget for the Constituency Development Committee.

The community of Karibib were further urged to ensure that their children attend school now that "our government has made primary education free and from next year, secondary education will be free."

Comrade Ngurare added that "over the past 24 years the SWAPO Party government has ensured that all Namibians must benefit without discrimination... in other words we have not said here is water or electricity but for it to work you must produce your membership card of our SWAPO Party."

He concluded by calling on the local authority to ensure that residents of Karibib especially youth and women must benefit from the tenders and contracts. Similarly since Karibib is a mining town, all Namibians must benefit from the mining activities and also empower the local people.

Speaking at the same occasion, the Mayor of Karibib, His Worship, Councilor David Iipinge expressed delight to the community of Karibib for the support given to the town council. He also applauded government Vision 2030 saying "this is a clear indication of a government that cares for its people."

The Mayor further thanked Government for the peace and stability enjoyed in the country. Comrade Iipinge informed the meeting that the event was made possible by the sponsorship of local business community who had donated a cow and other foodstuffs in order to celebrate our "freedom and independence."

The celebration was attended by the community of Karibib including councilors and other public servants such as police, teachers, nurses and the District Coordinator of SWAPO Party and other leaders.
