SPYL welcomes national conference on education

Dr. T. Elijah Ngurare, Secretary of SWAPO Party Youth League
Education is the key not only to wider society but also a prerequisite to individual and personal growth. It is therefore the imperative of every citizen to participate in the education of our households, villages, constituencies, regions and country. The Ministry of Education under the capable leadership of Dr. Abraham Iiyambo, as Minister, and Dr. David Namwandi, as Deputy Minister, are arranging a first ever National Conference on Education under the theme “Collective Delivery on the Education Promise: Improving the Education System for Quality Learning Outcomes” to be held in Windhoek from 27 June – 01 July 2011.

The SWAPO Party Youth League congratulates the Minister and Deputy Minister of Education for this historic and patriotic initiative and commends them, further, for reaching out to all stakeholders in education in particular to the students, teachers and parents. The entire country will be agreed that our education Ministry is in good hands and we can be confident that Vision 2030 is indeed achievable.

The youth fraternity in Namibia salutes the Namibia SPYL welcomes national conference on education National Students Organization (NANSO) as a recognized umbrella body representing the students’ aspirations and interests all over the country. We in the SWAPO Party Youth League therefore support the role of NANSO as the voice of students in this upcoming National Conference on Education.

We are aware of the many hard working young learners who are keeping the spirit of NANSO alive and who are making sure that the position of young people at the National Conference on Education is clear and is accepted. We fully support the recommendations that will be presented by NANSO at the National Conference on Education. We call on all the youth and students to liaise with NANSO across the country in terms of reaching synergy on educational issues to be tabled at the National Conference on Education.

Moreover, the work of NANSO must be commended at all times and we appeal to the Ministry of Education for assistance to the student organization in executing its aim to making Education accessible to all.

In the same vein, I wish to avail of this opportunity to congratulate the management and founders of Namibia’s first ever private university, the International University of Management (IUM) which was launched by H.E. Dr. Hifikepunye Pohamba recently.

We commend the tenacity, perseverance and vision of Dr. David Namwandi in the actualization of this historic institution of higher learning. The recent suggestion of conflict interest by a certain opposition youth formation is condemned with the contempt it deserves.

We call on all progressive and peace-loving Namibians to support the IUM and all our institutions of higher learning inclusive of UNAM and Polytechnic of Namibia as well as the excellent education being provided through NAMCOL. They all exist to educate our young people, who are our future leaders, regardless of their economic or political status.

Long Live the First Ever National Conference on Education in Namibia
