Namibia has won

By Kakede Ka Nangula

Editor of Namibia today please allow me space to comment on the outcome of the high court, on the electoral challenge instituted by the nine opposition parties.

The Namibian people were made to be extremely happy, when last Thursday the announcement was made to the effect that, a Political case that was filed by the nine opposition parties with the high court, was dismissed by the two judges, Petrus Damaseb and Collins parker with costs.

The people of Namibia are very happy to have the Judgement went in favour of the ruling party Swapo party and the Electoral Commission of Namibia. Whose credibility was deliberately trifled with by the nine opposition parties, because those none -patriotic element, who took them to the high court wanted a serious political conflict to develop in this country? Had the verdict went in their favour. The following was likely to happen;

1. If for example, there was going to be a re-run of elections, nobody would ever que up again, just to be taken to court if their party won the election.

2. Secondly people who belong to various political parties in the country were going to hate each other; it would have been a political phenomenon that had never happened in Namibia's independence history.

On the other hand, opposition parties were also made to learn a very good lesson; that, it is better to accept defeat, than to run to courts. Because courts are also not always a safe heaven for those who do wrong things. The nine opposition parties knew for sure that, Swapo's victory in the last November elections was very clean.

But as they wanted their followers believe that elections were not free or fair, the assumption would then be that, the high court would prove that, beyond reasonable doubt. However such assumption turned to be a b&bmerang. As the opposition were told in no uncertain terms that/hey will have to foot the huge bill to cover all court costs. Shakespeare had once said; "miscalculations sometimes can turn to show a dangerous picture"
