Helping Hands

Vote of thanks remarks by the young sister during weeding of SPYL Secretary nd members: "my name is Maria Shitoka Fwanyanga 68 yrs want to convey my hardfelt appreciation on
behalf on my elder sister Ngonde Theresia Mandjoro (76 yrs) to thank the youth of swapo for extending their helping hand to their elders.
They came in numbers to
come and weed in my elder sister
who is very old as well as
physical challenged. As we
speak now she is admitted in
Nyangana Hospital that is why
she is not here with us. Seeying
young people weeding voluntilary at no cost in this era
is amazing.
My sister is very old and is
disabled as i said earlier, and she
live with her grand children and
grand grand children and in total
their are 15. She has 3 children
left who lives with their
unemployed husbands in far
away villages. Some of the children
are orphans and they attend
school. So their source of
livelohhood is mainly derived
from this field and government
social grant.Therefore, I don't
have enough words to convey
my deepest appreciation and
joy.
This is the first time in a long
time to see young people coming
to assist their elders. It remind
me of our time as young
girls and boys of the village
would come in numbers during
'ndjambi' and be given food
and shikundu' after weeding,
while the grown ups and elders
will drink the much sought and
scarce 'mutoho' just to assist
each others.
To crown it all i m delighted
to see the Ngurare leading the
weeding team, a perspon that
we usual see on tv and radios.
What an humble person, being
a Doctor and come weed in my
village is beyond my imagination.
Wee Ngurare wee!
I can only say that may God
bless these young people sothat
they can do more and inspire
others. Wee swapo wee!"
