Above all, distinguished guests, my presence here is in solidarity with the students and staff of the National Arts Extension Programme (NAEP) who are heroically committed to the development of arts in our country. Further and right at the onset, I should like to say that my only wish is that the words we speak here today shall not gather dust but that they shall be implemented by the relevant Government structures.

Congratulations to the organisers of this Arts Festival. As I was preparing for my speech, the first question I asked myself was: What is Art?....

A few weeks ago, I launched the SWAPO Party National Preparatory Committee, which is tasked to ensure thorough and comprehensive preparations for our Party to achieve a landslide victory in the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections. The Preparatory Committee has begun its work and good progress is being made on different fronts and in different aspects. Following the announcement by the Electoral Commission of Namibia last week, we now know that the Presidential and National Assembly Elections will take place from 27th to 28th November 2009....
