Campaign Propaganda of RDP
THE RDP HAS BEEN CIRCULATING, IN THE NIGHT, A BROCHURE TO NAMIBIAN SCHOOLS SPELLING OUT WHAT RDP STANDS FOR. AND SO HEREUNDER IS WHAT RDP APPARENTLY STANDS FOR WITH OUR COMMENTARY POINTING OUT SOME DOSE OF REALITY
Fiction 1: RDP is a legal political party founded and based on the principles and provisions of the Namibian Constitution as well as those of the Namibian Electoral Commission (ECN). The RDP and its membership shall therefore remain prepared and ready to defend the Namibian Constitution and the principles of democracy in the country.
Reality 1: RDP was registered in darkness after secret meetings between Phillemon Kanime then ECN Director and Jesaya Nyamu who was excommunicated from the SWAPO Party. The RDP compiled names of Namibians under false pretext through the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) of the anti-SWAPO puppet Phil yaNangoloh. Many Namibians subsequently distanced themselves from RDP list but ECN Director Phillemon Kanime still went ahead to register RDP. Now Phillemon Kanime joined RDP which he assisted to found. It is obvious therefore that RDP was not REALLY founded and based on the principles and provisions of the Namibian Constitution. Don’t forget the Nyamu Notes which were founded contrary to the provisions of the Namibian Constitution.
Fiction 2: RDP is a political party which is inclusive and its membership is open to all Namibian citizens aged 18 years and above.
Reality 2: RDP is a political party for disgruntled old people who were expelled and suspended from SWAPO Party. The RDP is using Namibian citizens just to get Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaya Nyamu in parliament. Is this not the case for old wine in new bottles? Remember that Mr. Nyamu addressed a meeting at Okatyali Constituency when he was a Minister of Mines and Energy and remarked with arrogance that how can the Councilor of Okatyali demand electricity for Okatyali, is it going to be put in Omano trees.
Let us also remember that both Nyamu and Hidipo went to work at the Railway before 2004 Extra-Ordinary Congress and they praised the national project. Now that they are in the scrap-yard RDP they are against the Railway, what is this? Let us hope NBC TV will screen these two RDP leaders when they were jubilantly working on the Railway.
Fiction 3: RDP shall defend peace in Namibia, Africa and the world at large. The leaders and membership of RDP will strive to promote peace, good relations between peoples and nations. In their day to day work, they will shun the use of aggressive and debating language against their political opponents.
Reality 3: On 21st March 1990 Namibia became free and independent forever. Under the SWAPO Party Government Namibia has been transformed into an oasis of peace, tranquility and stability. It maintains and promotes peace, good relations between peoples and nations. The SWAPO Party and its Government has a track record of nearly 20 years of maintaining peace in Namibia.
Fiction 4: RDP shall promote and strengthen true democracy and the rule of law in the country. RDP shall fight against autocracy or totalitarianism in the country, including the promotion of personality-cult or hero worshiping.
Reality 4: RDP does not know what is true democracy and rule of law nor does RDP understands the meaning of autocracy and totalitarianism. Come to think of it, RDP is currently run by the family and friends of Hidipo Hamutenya. The entire Party is run from the backyard of Hidipo Hamutenya. Let us not forget that Phil yaNangoloh’s hero is the murderous UNITA bandit Jonas Savimbi.
Fiction 5: RDP will uphold the truth and the principles of transparency in both the political arena and the sphere of government. RDP will not mislead the Namibian population by way of false promises, propaganda and lies.
Reality 5: From the day of its founding RDP continues to mislead the Namibian population by way of false promises, propaganda and lies. Read on!
Fiction 6: RDP will promote development in the fields of economy and politics and will strive for social harmony throughout Namibia.
Reality 6: This is exactly what is happening in Namibia under the SWAPO Party Government.
Fiction 7: RDP shall uphold and promote a government based on the rule of law and the principle of justice for all.
Reality 7: This is exactly what is happening in Namibia under the SWAPO Party Government.
Fiction 8: RDP shall fight relentlessly against the evil of corruption and corrupt practices and all Namibian citizens shall be treated equally before the law and shall have access to national resources.
Reality 8: Under the SWAPO Party Government, there is an independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) which relentlessly fight against the evil of corruption and corrupt practices. Hidipo Hamutenya should explain what happened to the N$100 million of ODC money which disappeared under his watch as Minister in the SWAPO Party Government. Not to mention PIDICO and AMCOM. Remember also that it was Hidipo Hamutenya who used to call individuals pretending that they have been awarded tenders by Cabinet because of the influence of Hidipo Hamutenya. What is this, if not corruption? It is obvious that RDP and NSHR stand for corruption!
Fiction 9: RDP will uphold the human rights of all Namibian citizens irrespective of their ethnic, political, social or religious background. “All flowers will bloom” under the rule of RDP.
Reality 9: All flowers are blooming under the SWAPO Party Government. NSHR is an affiliate of RDP and for them until they somehow takeover government there is no respect for human rights in Namibia.
Fiction 10: RDP believes that the future prosperity of the country lies with its citizens in whom the ultimate powers are vested by the Constitution. But for the people to achieve success, they must use their voting right wisely. They must therefore vote on the basis of issues and not personalities.
Reality 10: SWAPO Party has issues on the basis of which Namibian people have voted it overwhelmingly for 19 years. These issues are contained in Vision 2030, NDP3 and Election Manifestos. What and where are the RDP issues?
Fiction 11: RDP shall promote and protect the freedom of the media because RDP believes that an enlightened and informed electorate is capable of making correct decisions for the good of the nation.
Reality 11: Under the SWAPO Party Government, freedom of expression and the press has remained centre stage. No media house has been closed or editor imprisoned.
Fiction 12: RDP will fight for the welfare of all Namibian citizens. RDP will fight poverty and the causes of poverty. RDP will protect and promote the interests of orphans, the disabled and the senior citizens to live a decent life. Namibia is not a poor country, what is lacking is the equitable distribution and sharing of the available resources. Only RDP has the quality and resolve to eradicate poverty in Namibia.
Reality 12: Under Swapo Party Government there is a Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare; Ministry of Health and Social Services and Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. All these Ministries are tasked to fight for the welfare of all Namibian citizens. To SWAPO therefore, the Namibian people are our greatest assets, we exist because of them. RDP exist only for those who want to go to Parliament.
Fiction 13: RDP has vowed to transform the education system in Namibia and to bring it to an acceptable standard. It is close to criminal negligence that the current government has allowed the rotting of the system so much so that today Namibia is at the bottom of the ladder in SADC as far as education is concerned. RDP believes that the future of our country belongs to our children and the youth and that we owe it to them to prepare them for a better future.
Reality 13: It is a well known fact that under the SWAPO Party Government, education and health has received the largest allocation of the national budget to be specific over N$5 billion has been allocated to education in the 2008/2009 Financial Year. Many schools have been constructed throughout the country especially in rural areas. It is a lie for RDP to claim otherwise.
Fiction 14: RDP believes that a population which is suffering particularly from social calamities, including HIV affliction cannot be expected to be truly productive. Thus, RDP shall place the health system in Namibia at the top of the list.
Reality 14: Under the SWAPO Party Government, the Ministry of Health and Social Services has placed the health of our nation as part of the priority areas of our national budget which includes an ARV programme geared towards prolonging the lives of those affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic. It is wishful thinking for RDP to claim otherwise.
Fiction 15: RDP shall strive to improve agricultural production in the country. Apart from training farmers, especially communal farmers, shall be assisted with seeds and fertilizers. The process of land distribution will be re-examined and be revised to benefit those that the programme was intended to help. The present system is a dismal failure. Now, resettled farmers are poorer than before their resettlement. This cannot be allowed to continue.
Reality 15: Under the SWAPO Party Government, there are two Ministries responsible for agricultural production in the country namely the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry; and the Ministry of Lands and Resettlement. This entire process land distribution is a result of the 1991 Land Conference which adopted the policy of Willing Buyer Willing Seller. Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaya Nyamu were participants of the Land Conference. Therefore RDP has no energy to improve agricultural production in the country. SWAPO Party Government is the agricultural salvation to our communal and commercial farmers.
Fiction 16: RDP shall undertake concerted efforts to promote the technical expertise of our farmers and general business entrepreneurship in the country. The success of our farmers and investors depends on their access to information, capital and expertise and not on wishful thinking.
Reality 16: Here RDP is more into wishful thinking than illustrating any seriousness policy consideration geared towards promoting “the technical expertise of our farmers and general business entrepreneurship in the country”. SWAPO Party and its Government remain the engine oiling the technical expertise of our farmers and general business entrepreneurship in the country. The Ministry of Trade and Industry, NCCI, DBN, Agribank amongst others are all geared towards the success of our farmers and investors.
Fiction 17: RDP will fight for the rights of all Namibian workers against unfair treatment by their employers. But the rights of our workers, including salaries, will be linked to the training and productivity of our work force. Under the RDP government, trade unions shall not be married to political parties as the case is today. The above points are only but a few indicators of what RDP shall strive to achieve when it is put in power by the Namibian electorate. You will hear more of RDP.
Reality 17: There will be no such thing as RDP government because simply no serious Namibian citizen would want to see the combination of Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaya Nyamu ruling Namibia. At issue here is that RDP is bitter about the affiliation of the progressive NUNW to the Mighty SWAPO Party. Those who are sponsoring RDP want this not to be. A caveat here will suffice: RDP says “The above points are only but a few indicators of what RDP shall strive to achieve when it is put in power by the Namibian electorate”. In other words, RDP has no political programme it is pursuing but only indicators of wishful thinking. That is why the Namibian people will hear more about SWAPO Party and nothing about RDP, it is a spent force.
Fiction 18: Since the formation of RDP, the pressure on the Government has increased hence the following changes:
a) Portable water for human and animal consumption was opened in rural areas.
Since independence in 1990, the SWAPO Party and its Government have ensured that portable water for human and animal consumption was opened in rural areas through Rural Water Supply and NamWater. RDP was only formed in 2007.
b) Old age pension was increased from N$370 to N$450 per month.
At independence, the pension was N$50 per month for blacks. SWAPO Party Government equalized pension for blacks and whites and increased it gradually to the current N$450.00. The increase shall be continued as finances allows. All these good things, happened before RDP as a political project was formed, it was the foresight and vision of the SWAPO Party and its Government.
c) Grade 10 failures of 2007 are permitted to repeat the same grade this year.
This is the worst lie ever told by RDP to the youth of our country. Calls for Grade 10 failure repeat came from the SWAPO Party Youth League (SPYL) which passed a resolution at its 4th Congress in 2007 and subsequently the SWAPO Party Congress held in the same year endorsed the Resolution of the SPYL Congress. Accordingly the SWAPO Party Government was directed to avail funds for the Grade 10 and 12 failures to repeat. Again the RDP project was not yet founded by that time.
d) Pensioners, orphans and vulnerable children starting June 2008 (sic) will receive free medication in all hospitals and clinics across the country.
This is the vision of SWAPO Party and its Government, in the Ministries of Health and Social Services, of Labour and Social Welfare and of Gender Equality and Child Welfare. This is political plagiarism to say the least.
e) The war veterans monthly fund has been increased from N$500 to N$2500.
This is the vision of SWAPO Party and its Government and is implemented through the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
f) It is only now that the Government has realized that the southerners in Namibia have been neglected and discriminated against in terms of job opportunities and economic emancipation.
The RDP’s Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaya Nyamu went to Keetmanshoop to hold a star rally shortly after its founding. Hidipo Hamutenya was forced to stay in the hotel and instead sent his loyal Jesaya Nyamu to face the embarrassment of addressing an empty stadium. This shows that the southerners are part and parcel of SWAPO Party and SWAPO Party is the people of Namibia including those from the south of the country. There are Ministers and Members of Parliament from the South in our SWAPO Party Government.
g) It is also only now that Government has offered to scrap VAT on basic food commodities.
This claim is similar to the other one where it is claimed that the Eehnana-Elundu-Nkure-nkuru-Rundu road is being tarred after Hidipo Hamutenya successfully negotiated with the Japanese to release the funds for the loan to the Namibian Government. Everything that is happening in Namibia has been made possible by the SWAPO Party and its Government. That is why only a confused opposition politician would claim such false political laurels. After all, funds for government projects are not given to individuals.
Fiction 19: The time is now for you to join the rank and file of the new dynamic political party, the RDP. Be ready to cast your vote in 2009, to ensure a bright future.
Reality 19: There is no doubt that after reading the above claims by RDP, every Namibian is now convinced that RDP stands for “Really Desperate People or better still Rally for Doubling the Problems of Namibia”. The hour is upon the Namibian people to vote for SWAPO Party in the November Presidential and National Assembly Elections. Just think of our good leaders H.E. Dr. Sam Nujoma, Father of the Namibian Nation, H.E. Cde. Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the SWAPO Party and of the Republic of Namibia, Cde. Dr. Hage G. Geingob, Vice President of the SWAPO Party and Minister of Trade and Industry, Cde. Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, Secretary General of the SWAPO Party and Minister of Justice, Cde. Nangolo Mbumba, Deputy Secretary General of the SWAPO Party and Minister of Education and the list is long. There is simply no comparison to the scrap-yard leaders of the disgruntled RDP. VOTE SWAPO Party 100%!
