Aupindi challenges status quo – calls for Namibia to seize ownership of economy
By Staff Reporter

Namibian local governments need to own up to their relative failure to effect ‘true’ and tangible economic development in their respective regions and turn to new and innovative means of advancing black economic empowerment.
These were some of the key highlights delivered in a rousing speech by SWAPO Party Think-Tank committee member and Managing Director of Namibia Wildlife Resorts, Dr. Tobie Aupindi at a gala dinner marking the 10th anniversary of the Ongwediva Trade Fair on Saturday, 31st July 2010 at the northern town.
Dr. Aupindi in particular addressed the often misconceived subject of foreign businesses in the rural areas and tertiary industries of Namibia and called for local businessmen to take their duly elected leaders at regional level to task to ensure that national development goals are met.
