A Poem of Speedy Recovery for Nelson Mandela
By Emmanuel Ebah
Oh legend of our times, Dweller of our hearts, Pilot of our dreams; Our wishes now fuse in your favour; Ever more so than never before; With a petition filed to nature, To mend your distress with speed; To repair our sore hearts for your pain, And to restore your presence in our midst.
Our deep love for you has multiplied; With echoes of our hearts at sky level; In appeal for your
prompt recovery; To appease pleas for your welfare,
And to soothe our worried souls.
Happiness has suddenly left us, In solemn protest for your agony, Unable to function in your absence,
Very keen to behold your company, And has quitted its gain for your pain.
But our appeal has been privileged; And soon again will you be home; Once more strong, well and
happy, Amidst the bliss of loved ones, And the kindness of friends, Sharing smiles and peace.
