In THE SPOTLIGHT: SWAPO ready to sweep elections

Kunene Region under magnifying glasses
SWAPO Party functionaries in all the 107 constituencies around the country are sharpening their campaign strategies to ensure that the party does not only do well in the upcoming regional and local authorities’ elections slated for November this year, but snatch away constituencies that it does not control.
Most of the Party’s regional coordinators spoken to are predicting a landslide victory in the regional elections, saying that opposition parties have been weakened by their inabilities to penetrate the country’s 107 constituencies.
The region that has caused SWAPO Party headaches for several years is Kuenene Region, and that is where the Party is not leaving anything to...

Where we came from

Every Nation has a proud history. As Namibian youth, you should appreciate and develop keen interest in the history of our country. By so doing, you will be able to learn the painful journey that we have traveled as a nation over centuries until we have founded the free and independent Namibia.
This land of our forbearers; is the land of the brave. Namibians fought gallantry with vigour and determination to free ourselves from the bondage of colonial oppression and apartheid colonialism. The yoke of colonial oppression and subjugation verified our heroes and heroines and trampled upon our human dignity. The colonialists denied us our fundamental human rights to self determination and independence. It was for this reason that our forefathers and mothers rose to arms to resist and break the chains of colonialism, oppression and slavery.
The first stages of anti-colonial resistance was led by our national heroes and heroines... Read More

Tala, I concur with you! We as a nation simply have to go back to the way our grandfathers used to live, especially putting church first (Fearing GOD and respecting ourselves). We can never solve crime by committing crime, Period!

It is heartwrenching to see criminal activies in any society. Where are our moral, ethical, societal and family values? Do we even have them?
Emotions aside, calls for death penalty and castration are all wishful thinking. Moreover, not all humans can be castrated. Mob justice is just another crime. One can not necessarily instil ethical, moral and family values by passing laws. I think more needs to be done at family level, church level and traditional authority level in cultivating a culture of respect and self-discipline. Bottom-up approach is the way to go!
